The next two weeks in math we will work on solidifying multiplication properties and multiplication facts. This will take us up to the last week of school and we will test either Thursday or Friday the 18th.
We will have a short literature unit on The Polar Express. Students will reflect on the boy's point of view and compare his point of view with other characters in the story. The class will also be introduced to figurative language and how inanimate objects can take on the persona of a person. We will also learn to identify metaphors and similes. We will end the unit next week with pajamas on Friday the 18th, hot chocolate, and viewing the movie. They will compare how the book and the movie are similar, but distinctly different.
Our Cultural Festival will be held on Monday and Tuesday of next week. The third grade classes will visit 15 different countries in two days, learning about specific Christmas traditions from each country. This is an activity we look forward to each year.
In third grade we do not do a student gift exchange for Christmas. We will have a small class party on Friday the 18th where I will give the kids a small gift and we will share cookies.
