In science we have been studying extreme weather conditions. The class researched tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. They learned about the dangers of each kind of storm, characteristics of the storms, and damage that might be a result of those storms. The class was then given scenarios where they had to use critical thinking and problem solving to build a house that could withstand a high wind event. Our second challenge involved building a flood barrier to protect a dog house in the back yard. The kids worked in groups to design their plans using a budget to buy their supplies, create, and then test their projects. We had an amazing time. Below I am attaching pictures from both events. Enjoy!!
