In math we finished our unit on subtraction with regrouping. Most have a great understanding of this concept, but we will be reviewing often as not all students have mastered the subtraction with regrouping. Some of the errors I found while working through the chapter included students who do not know their basic subtraction facts. This is critical for success as math concepts continue to become more complex. We will start multiplication concepts on Monday. Most of the 2nd quarter will focus on multiplication and division in our math training.
We will continue with our Social Studies curriculum for the remaining of the 2nd quarter. You should be receiving a letter home this week about this change for the third grade. We will then focus on Science for the 2nd semester.
The third grade has many upcoming events this week...
1. Historical Society Museum Field Trip:
On Tuesday we will head over to the Tonganoxie History Museum to learn about our communities history. Please remember that students need a sack lunch and drink that day. Several have ordered a sack lunch from the cafeteria, we will pick those up upon returning to class and eat together either outside or in the classroom.
2. No Spelling Test this week!! (I hear the cheering from the third graders now :))!
3. No School Wednesday- Friday for Parent Teacher Conferences
I look forward to seeing you at our scheduled times this week. If you need a reminder of your time or need to reschedule please call the school office.
