In math we finished our first chapter on place value, and have started chapter two on addition with number through 1,000. We will be learning different addition properties this week and strategies behind how to add. By the end of the chapter the students should have a good grasp of the addition process and be able to add larger numbers with regrouping.
This week I will be sending home a My Math letter that has your child's username and password to the My Math connected website that is associated with our math curriculum. You can find little videos on lessons that have been taught, games, and other fun activities. If your child is ever absent you can also log in for tutoring videos and help with the assignment. This is a great resources for the kids. I have attached a link to the site on the student links page of my website.
Reading instruction will dive into our first big standard this week. We will be learning how to answer and ask questions about what we are reading. This is a vital skill for all people. We will learn about different types of questions and how to find answers and use inference with what we already know and what we have learned in the story to find an answer. This will be an ongoing work in progress as inference is a hard skill, but so important for comprehension!!
