In math we continued to work on rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Slowly but surely we are getting there. We will be reviewing on Tuesday and taking a summative assessment for chapter one on Wednesday. I will be sending home a "mock" test that we use as a review study guide. We will complete these in class, go over mistakes, however it is vital that you sit down with your child on Tuesday night and go over the study guide with them. This helps to solidify any questions that they may have and then you can help them sure up and be ready for the test on Wednesday. I will have the students draw a line for mom or dad's signature at the top. If you review the test with your child, please sign the line and they will receive extra credit for returning the study guide signed the next day.
Grandparents Day is this Friday from 1:00-2:30. We have some fun activities planned to share with our grandparents. If you are planning on your child leaving with their grandparents, please return the signed permission slip before Friday. I have to have parental permission to release your child to their grandparents.
We have started learning about communities in Social Studies. Last week we learned about the physical features of communities; landforms, climate, natural hazards, and natural resources. This coming week we will be looking at Tonganoxie compared to a larger community. We will also be learning how people adapt to the different physical features of their individual community. Our community unit will end with a walking field trip to downtown Tonganoxie on September, 24th. Mark your calendar if you would like to venture out with us on this trip. An informational letter will be coming home early this week.
Homework is part of the routine for third grade. I have been very lucky this year that I am seeing most of our class return homework on time, however I do need to remind parents that if you see a zero or blank spot on Skyward please follow up with your child as they may not have turned in their work. If your child was absent then I will leave an asterisk in the grade line, however if they were at school and did not turn in the work I will enter a zero until the work is turned in. Thanks for checking and reminding your kiddos to get their work in on time.
