A huge thank you to Jo Kirchoff and Susan Geiger who manned the supply store for our hazardous wind project. We couldn't have done the project without you!
Below are some pictures of the kiddos working.
This week we studied severe weather that is common around Tonganoxie. The class learned about how tornadoes are formed, conditions for severe weather, safety precautions, and on Friday we constructed shelters for our paper families and tested them against a high wind event (hair blower). The kids had a great time working in small groups and using the budget and materials that they could purchase to create the shelters. Then we had all the kids describe how they created their shelters and tested them against a high wind situation. The students were able to use their critical thinking skills, social skills, and knowledge they learned during our class research.
